Photo exhibition of Paraska Plytka-Horytsvit

In Autumn 2019, the first large multimedia exhibition dedicated to Paraska Plytka-Horytsvit was shown in Kyiv Mystetsky Arsenal art center. For the first time, the general public got a chance to explore a significant part of her photo archive and other workpieces.

The project has the potential to draw attention to a wide range of issues: from regional identity to the women’s contribution in art and philosophy. The fate and work of Paraska Plytka-Horytsvit parallels that of famous female figures of Western art, such as the American photographer Vivian Maier and the Polish amateur photographer Zofi a Chomętowska. Another important aspect of this project is the emphasis on the phenomenon of Ukrainian photography and the actualization of this media in broader circles.

In addition to the exhibition planned to happen in 2021 in Berlin, there is a plan to publish a photo album and a catalog of the exhibition, as well as to screen a documentary film about female artist "A Portrait on the Background of Mountains” by Maxym Rudenko, which is available in our catalog.
